Data the extension handles

The extension examines visible text nodes on the order page to identify the visible native-to-checkout exchange-rate line and monetary values expressed in the checkout currency. It ignores non-monetary text and does not extract customer identity, contact, address, product or payment-card fields. The visible order amounts are financial/payment information and the conversion-rate text is website content under Chrome Web Store disclosure categories. Both are handled only in memory, locally in the user’s Chrome browser.

Collection, transmission and sharing

Shopify Native Currency View does not transmit, retain, sell or share Shopify order data, customer data, browsing history or authentication information. It does not use analytics, advertising, remote code, Shopify APIs or a Massdex server.

The extension stores one preference—whether to show native currency automatically—in Chrome’s local extension storage. That preference does not contain order or customer data and is not sent to Massdex.

Locally handled information is used only to provide the in-place currency view. It is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, lending or any unrelated purpose, and is never made available for human review.

Retains the user’s “always show native currency” preference locally.

Site access to admin.shopify.com

Runs the in-place currency view only on Shopify Admin store pages and activates only on a validated order URL with one unambiguous visible conversion rate.

If no valid rate is available, the extension leaves the page unchanged.

Retention and deletion

The local preference remains until the user changes it, clears extension storage or removes the extension. Removing the extension deletes its local storage through Chrome’s normal extension-removal process.
